How Data is Stored

Hi there,
When using the page builder to create a template, I see it creates a record in the xx_posts table. It looks like sometimes the the post content is stored in post_content and other times it’s stored as serialized data in xx_postmeta.

Is there a basic rule of thumb for which type of module in a template results in post_content in the xx_posts table vs meta_value in the `xx_postmeta table?
