Accessibility with Beaver Builder

Hi, I was wondering about accessibility when using the Beaver Builder plugin. I just purchased the plugin and think it will be a great tool for my clients. I’m concerned, though, that there is no mention of accessibility that I can find and it seems that the output from some of the Beaver modules are not WAI-ARIA compliant. For example, the tabs module does not add any ARIA attributes to the tab elements and tabs don’t seem to be keyboard navigable. I see similar problems with the accordions module, etc.

Beaver Builder looks to be an amazingly useful product, but unfortunately I need to be able to build accessible sites and allow my clients to do the same. If WAI-ARIA isn’t supported, I’m afraid I may need to abandon BB and use a different page builder solution. Thanks for your consideration!

Hi Jonathan! Thanks for reaching out with your question. We’re all for making Beaver Builder as accessible as possible, but admittedly, there is some room for improvement. Hi Robby (and Jonathan)

I just want to know what the status is on making Beaver Builder (more) accessible? In november 2015 I heard the awesome podcast OfficeHours about Beaver Builder where you were the guest star. In that episode you sais something about your work towards accessibility. What’s the current status?

At the moment I’m trying to make a BB-site accessible with the use of the awesome plugin “WP Accessibility”, but it seems that eg. skiplinks do not work!?

I hope 2016 will be another breakthrough for Beaver Builder as a leading star on the accessibility sky :slight_smile:

Hey Torben! Thanks for the kind words.

I don’t really have a status update, unfortunately. We definitely want to continually improve on this front.

There are a couple of things that would be really helpful. One, I don’t believe anyone has added “Improve Accessibility” or anything of that nature to our User Voice page. If you have a quick second, would you mind adding it?

Also, we have private BitBucket repo for Beaver Builder, but we’ve been slowly but surely letting folks in to make pull requests and contributions. Again, if there’s anyone out there who would like to help on this front, or if there’s something specific anyone needs for a project, we welcome all the help we can get here.
