BB and existing page/post content

Hi I am just getting started and want to make sure I know what I am doing here (!). I am developing my own site, writing the content and doing the (very basic) design.
Before I go too far, I would just like to understand a bit better how BB interacts with content that already exists in pages and posts.
It seems like if there is some existing content, BB pulls it into a row with a text editor - which is great. Then it seems that if I subsequently change the content on the back end, BB does not pick up the changes. Is that right? So if we want to change the content it has to be done within BB? That is fine, just so I know.
Is there a way to ‘detach’ BB from a page, so I can write the content I want in the back end and then rebuild it in BB?
If I am right in understanding all this, it seems the best workflow would be to develop all the major content first in the back end, and then go through page by page, building the BB elements for each one (or applying a template)?
With regard to posts - I see we can leave these out of BB or add them in. If we add them in, can we work on them on an individual basis? I wouldn’t want to BB-ise all my posts, but for some I will want to add some BB elements. If I do that, will it all show up right on the front end for my visitors?
Hope these questions make some kind of sense to you! I think I am going to like BB but as you can no doubt tell I am a bit of a novice.

Hey Helen,

Thanks for getting in touch! Re. using BB, you are correct in that if you activate it in a page that already has content, BB will subsequently insert it into a single text editor module which you can then rebuild using BB elements, and delete the original text module. You essentially have two ways of editing a page, either using the WordPress editor or BB. You can switch between the two if you like, but it’s probably easier to just use BB for creating your pages on the front end. In using BB on posts, it’s a similar workflow. I hope that helps, but let me know if I can assist further and thanks again!

Best,
Billy

Hi Billy,
I did have the same question that BB does not pickup changes made to content through the standard Wordpress editor.

When I make a small text change (like add a questionmark at the end of a sentence) through the Wordpress editor and update the page the page does not have the lay-out that was made with BB.

To change the page lay-out to what is was I have to open the page using BB and save the page.
So pages made with BB should not be edited with Wordpress editor?
At that moment the changes made through Wordpress editor are gone.

Hi Edwin,

If you are using BB on a page, you should stick to using BB to edit it if possible. You can always switch back and forth with the editor and BB, but as you mention, the layout temporarily inserts into a single text editor column until you reactivate BB in the page.

Best,
Billy
