Caption Option for Slideshow module

Hey Gang,

I had a client ask if it might be possible in BB plugin to build in an option to display captions with the slideshow module so that it can display the captions from the media gallery (if an entry exists) … below the slideshow images. I was curious if this might be something you might be willing to develop and what it would cost. BTW … the client who asked for this feature absolutely loves your BB plugin (so do we)! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks and regards,

John

Hey John,

Thanks for the kinds, great to hear! On this particular request, feel free to add that to our User Voice forum. We’ll certainly take a look at some point!

Hi,

I was about to ask for exactly the same thing.

Is it likely to happen?

Many thanks,
Nathan

Hey Nathan,

Feel free to vote up the current feature request via https://wpbeaverbuilder.uservoice.com/forums/270594-general/suggestions/9168928-add-options-for-caption-location. We implement based on popularity for the most part!

Billy

Hi Billy,

Thanks for this - things have changed a little.

Do you know if it’s possible to show the image title or caption on the lightbox view when using the Gallery module? At the moment I can’t see a way.

Also, I changed the thumbnail size in Media settings to better suit the images I’m planning to use, but that seems to cause an issue with the module ‘overflowing’ into any module I put below it.

Are you able to replicate this or advise how to avoid it?

Really enjoying using the plugin by the way.

Best wishes,
Nathan

Hey Nathan,

My apologies, I somehow missed your response! Yes, it is possible to turn on captions using the gallery module. It is a setting in the gallery module settings panel.

Re. The thumbnail size, did you make sure to regenerate your thumbs using https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/? If not, that should fix you right up. It’s always good practice to do that whenever you change a media size.

Let me know if that helps and apologies for the delay!

Best,
Billy

Hi Billy,

Thanks for this, no worries re delay.

I can see that setting you refer to - but hadn’t used the plugin you suggested - I’ve installed that and reconfigured all the images - but i still have the same issue.

I loaded some new images and created this page just now http://dev1.digitaldavidson.co.uk/branded-glasses-4/

There’s something stopping the image titles from being shown below the gallery - I just can’t work out how to get rid of it. I think the resizing of the the thumbnails have caused the gallery module ‘holder’ to be ‘mishapen’ and might be causing this??

Any chance i can give you a WP login fr you to take a look?

V frustrating.

Thanks,
Nathan

Ok don’t worry, I’ve just changed the padding below and that’s solved it!

Sure, Nathan, I can take a look. As you aren’t the original thread starter here, can you go ahead and email me the site URL/admin access to hello[at]wpbeaverbuilder[dot]com?

Just to confirm, after doing the regeneration, did you make sure to clear any cache plugin you may have installed as well as the BB cache available via the settings > page builder? Also, (and I know obvious), but those particular images have a caption set in the media library?

Best,
Billy

Sorry Billy.

Do you know how to overcome the image overlapping issue highlighted on here?

http://dev1.digitaldavidson.co.uk/branded-glassware-2/

Have tried various padding options but can’t seem to get there.

thanks,
Nathan

Hi again,

I think our comments on this thread crossed - not surprising because I sent three updates in less than 10 mins - sorry!

I’m not sure I need to send you a login now by email?

I’m happy apart from the overlapping issue raised in my last post.

Would also be good to know if you could add the image title of caption to the lightbox view?

Regards,
Nathan

Hey Nathan,

Hard to say without taking a look. Feel free to send me a note via that email address above. Re. The caption, no, our gallery module only supports the caption field, sorry about that.

Best,
Billy
