Change current menu item link color

The current-menu-item link color is the same as the background so it disappears. I’ve been through the forum topics and tried about everything and nothing is working. Using dev tools, I can find the code and temporarily change the color. But when I try to add this same code to the site it does not work. I tried adding in the customizer, in the menu CSS and in the child theme CSS.
@media (max-width: 767px)
.fl-page-nav-toggle-button.fl-page-nav-toggle-visible-mobile .fl-page-nav-collapse ul.navbar-nav > li.current-menu-item > a, .fl-page-nav-toggle-button.fl-page-nav-toggle-visible-mobile .fl-page-nav-collapse ul.navbar-nav > li.current-menu-item > .fl-submenu-icon-wrap .fl-submenu-toggle-icon {
color: #c42727; }
#c42727; needs to be changed to #FEE000. I can’t even find the original code in any of the files within the BB Theme or child theme. to change it there or delt it and add back what I want. Also tried adding !important.
