crop dropdown inside of the picture module not working

I have a page that uses the photo module, when in the edit pop of the module you have the dropdown option for crop. When selected, in the preview mode the image dose show that the image was cropped but when you go to publish the changes the image reverts back to the original.

have tested the crop in other modules like the callout and it works just fine in it.

tested this in the 1.3.5 and the 1.3.6 version of the plugin.
