Customizing Post Pages

So, in the settings, there’s an option to check both Pages and Posts for BB. However, I cannot figure out how to edit post pages. Am I confused or missing something?

Thanks!

P.S. LOVE the product by the way!!

Hi Andy,

Thanks for getting in touch and for the kind words! In order to use BB in blog posts, you’ll need to have that option checked in the page builder settings as you you mention. From there, go ahead and create a post in your dashboard. The process to activate BB in a post is the same as it is for your pages. BB will allow you to edit and/or create whatever you like in individual posts. Let us know if we can be of further assistance and thanks again!

Best,
Billy

So is there not a way to apply a design to all posts?

Hey Andy,

So, posts are similar to individual pages to where you would need to apply a template to each individually if that makes sense. Let me know if you need anything further!

Best,
Billy

Is there any possibility of being able to make an individual post template? I’ve turned the header off in order to make a splash page without it, but now I have to manually add the header and menu to each blog post…

Hey Ry,

What about just creating a page template within BB that you can reuse and changing the page template within the post editor to the headerless/footerless template? Does that work for you?

Best,
Billy

Tried this. Can’t get custom header & menu above the post title.

Hmm, I’m not sure what you are looking to do is possible with BB out of the box. Can you share a link I can take a look at for more context?

I was looking to make a full page image homepage for the whole site (http://rypepper.com/) and the only way I could see to do that was to disable the header, but now the header is disabled throughout the rest of the site.

I created a kind of fake header for pages (example here: http://rypepper.com/blog/ ) which isn’t entirely ideal since I can’t use the menus, etc. and of course, as mentioned, I can’t add it to the individual posts (see here: http://rypepper.com/starting-over-soon/)

Perhaps the easiest fix would be to turn the header back on… but then how do I get rid of it on the homepage so I can have a full page image with links on top like it is? I’d also love to get rid of the copyright footer…

Hope this helps clear things up a little :slight_smile:

Hey Ry,

I believe you removed your header via the Theme Customizer? What you can do is, enable your header back in there and just use a No Header/Footer page template for your homepage.

Hope this helps!

Ben

Thanks so much, Ben.

I am so sorry… i feel crazy, but I just can’t find that template. You’re right, I did eventually use the Theme Customizer to turn the header off entirely. I would love to use the method you suggest.

When in Page Builder on my front page, I don’t see anything that says No Header/Footer under any of the templates. Even the blank pages just give me a blank page with my header still intact.

According to my wordpress, everything is up to date. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hey Ry,

No problem! It’s a page template that’s found on the WordPress Editor and not a layout template. You can go to the WordPress Editor by hitting Edit Page right on the top admin bar and not Page Builder. From there, you can select the template you wish to use on the right side under Page Attributes. Once you see the screenshot below, you’ll immediately know what I mean. :slight_smile:

Just curious… could you hear the sound of my palm connecting with my forehead?

Thank you SO much. This is perfect. You guys are the best, as always. I am now happily header/footer free on my homepage. Keep it up, guys!

Anytime, Ry! Have fun with The Beaver! :slight_smile:

@Andy, if you’re interested in creating templates for posts, this tool helped me: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-custom-post-template/screenshots/

Also, your best bet to create universal styles for the blog [or other kinds of] posts are via CSS.

Example:

.single-post .fl-post,
.single-webcast .fl-post,
.single-program .fl-post,
.search-results  .fl-post,
.archive  .fl-post
{
max-width:600px;margin:40px auto;
}
