Export / Import function failed to import Images.

The problem with export and import function between sites (domain) for pages that created with Beaver Builder is the images don’t get imported (The image source hotlinks). Is there a way to solve this issue? Thanks

Hello,

I am a customer also. I have a similar issue yesterday when i moved my site from local to online for test purposes.

The problem i had was that i used a simple sql request to change database inside url and i loose what i learned as “serialisation” data.

result : only text and no images or BB templates

I resolved my issue using a serialisation database url script modificator that a moderator gave me the link :

https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

How about the image files? Did you upload them manually?

First, i move my wordpress folder content, after changing the database login pwd and adress info in config.php

I also move the php script file explaine in the link above

Then, i export my local sql and import in online.

Finally i execute the php script file to change all url, wich keeping automatically the serialisation of the data.

To execute the cript, you have to upload it to your wordpress root folder and type his http adress.

So if you website http is www.mysite.com, you will have to type www.mysite.com/script.php

You can rename the script before uploading it.

If you have the same problem, read th link i gave you. The procedure is cool.

Also, it would also be wise to wait a message from the BB Team. There are very efficient.

Thanks for sharing this. I hope there is an easier way (plugin) to do it.

Yes, you have to found one who cares abour “serialisation” data.

Ask BB team, they will tell you one for sure.

Hey Guys,

I’m not aware of a plugin for this off the top of my head, that serialization tool is the easiest route we know of!

Billy

Hence,

Do you know about manual wordpress migration, ftp content and sql databases ?

Iy yes, have you got ftp and sql access to the two websites you are working on content ?

I can tell you that even if they are some steps to do the migration manually, it’s a goog method and also that tool will work very well.

I can give you a link about wordpress manual migration procedure.

I just want to transfer just a few pages, not the entire site. I guess it’s faster and safer to re-upload the images again than using that serialization tool. Thanks Adelino.

Ah, I see Hence, sorry for the confusion there! Is the standard WordPress import/export functionality not working for you?

WordPress dashboard > Tools > Export. By selecting the ‘Layout Templates’ option, you can export a WordPress XML file that you can use for any WordPress website containing the Beaver Builder plugin.

Billy

Hi Billy, the problem with standard WordPress export/import functionality is the images not imported and not added to WordPress Image library of the new site, they are hot-linked to the original pages. WordPress Export/Import functionality should be able to import the images when we choose top import attachment files, but that doesn’t work for pages that built Beaver Builder.

Hey Billy,

I’ve done everything that this tread has said to do in regards to exporting templates. I created a site using BB in another url so my main site would not be down during construction. I then have exported ALL the templates for each page so I can import them to the new url, which has BB installed, and add the new pages seamlessly. No go! Every time I add one of my templates nothing happens. Super frustrated. Can you help me?

Hey Alex,

If you can send along temp admin access via the private reply checkbox below, I can take a look. Just to confirm, you followed this http://forum.wpbeaverbuilder.com/knowledge-base/layout-templates/ (export/import section)?

Best,
Billy

Hi Alex,

I received your email with the export, can you please also provide temp admin access to the site in question via private reply here?

Best,
Billy

Hey Alex,

It looks like the templates are blank and didn’t quite export correctly the first time around. Can you please do another export making sure to toggle layout templates and then send me the new xml to try? Once I get the new xml, I will delete the existing template layouts in the site you sent access to as they are blank and try this process from scratch.

Best,
Billy

Hey Alex,

It looks like a few of the templates came through ok. Can I get access to the site you originally created the layout templates on by chance? I may also need FTP so I can delete previous page layouts so we get a clean slate.

Best,
Billy

+1

Hey there  Iam having the same problem. I exported all (and only) my templates to have them on another wordpress (multisite) installation. All of them are working, except 2.

I own the agency-version and use the “Blog-Templates”-Plugin by WPMU DEV which is a GREAT way to distritbute custom templates through a multisite installation. I setup a template which contains all designs, as a standard template for every new blog.

Besides from that, some templates/designs are just blank/empty pages :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Best wishes,
David

Hey David,

Sorry to hear! Did you by chance try all of the things mentioned in this thread by chance? The previous issue had to do with improper migration so I am wondering if something wasn’t quite right with the initial migration of the site before export?

Best,
Billy

Hey Billy, thx for your reply!

I just simply exported all templates and imported them on another installation via the standard wp-exporter/importer.

Like mentioned in this thread before, no images are exported/imported, but the paths are fine, pointing to the old-installation images (no worry about that, already uploaded the images on my new installation and replaced them).

My problem now is, that one (i already built up the second one which was empty) template is just empty. If i choose it from the Template-List, nothing happens. All others are working just fine.

This template is important, because i want to distribute it through the whole multisite installation by integrating it to my WPMU-DEV “Blog Template”.

Best,
David

Hey David,

Hmm, I am wondering if there is something that got corrupted during the export/import process. Have you tried deleting the problem templates from the new site, exporting them again and re-importing?

Best,
Billy
