Favicon doesn't display

Hello,

I’ve tried to add a favicon for my site, I see the icon in cp, but it doesn’t work live.

I’ve deleted the cache, history, and other browser data, any suggestion?

Thanks,

Have a great day,

Andrei

Hey Andrei,

Welcome to the BB forums!

I can see the icons in the markup, they’re just not showing. Are you using an image optimization/caching plugin? I noticed there’s a different URL before your URL on image links. Also, we’re letting WP handle the favicon. You’ll probably get the same problem when using another theme like the TwentyX themes.

Ben

Hey Ben,

Thanks! Well I’m using the BB child theme and no image optimization/caching plugin, although on the other site works fine, can something else be the problem?

Thanks again for help, have a great day!

Andrei

Hi Dan,

How are you adding your favicon? Can you provide more information as to how you’re adding it so I can try and recreate the issue, please?

Thanks,
Danny

sure Danny, here’s a prt sc:

I’ve just added the icon using the theme builder panel. On one of my websites works fine, on this it display the icon just in wp dashboard.

Maybe we can force the icon with code?

Thanks,
Andrei

Hey Andrei,

Do you have Jetpack enabled? I think it’s Jetpack’s Photon feature which is adding the prefix URL to your icons. Can you disable it and see if that fixes the issue? I’ll post in a separate private reply a screenshot of what I’m referring to.

Hey Ben,

hmm yes, thanks! I’ve disabled the Jetpack’s Photon feature, but it still doesn’t show the icon.

Here: http://prntscr.com/9vz2bd

…this is what I see now after uploading the favicon again and deleted the cache and history.

Thanks for tips,
Andrei

Hey Andrei,

That’s really weird! Would it be possible to disable all plugins and see if you get the same thing? If so, can you share temp admin access to the site so we can check deeper? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

Ben

Sure, here’s a list of 18 active plugins I’m using:

list 1: http://prntscr.com/9w0vyj
list 2: http://prntscr.com/9w0yfg

maybe you know if one of them is problematic, sorry for the language, I’ll also try your suggestion

Thanks Ben!

Hi Andrei,

Is it possible for you to disable all active plugins excerpt Beaver Builder and see if you get the same thing?

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Danny,

yes, thanks! It worked, but only on the homepage, this is strange:

http://prntscr.com/9wkz2i

So, I’ve disabled all plugins, and the icon appeared, and enabled all back again and still see the icon. So I guess it could be some cache data problem, even if I’ve cleared the history?

I should probably to the same while I’m on the other pages, although it’s not something really obvious…

Thanks for help!
Andrei

Hi Andrei,

To find the culprit plugin, please enable one plugin and see if the favicon no longer displays. If it does display correctly, disable that plugin and move onto the next one.

Repeat this process until you find the plugin that is causing the issue. When you find it, let us know which one.

Thanks,
Danny
