Font Awesome icons

I am using BB theme and plugin. My site turned out great thanks to you guys, but the Font Awesome icons do not show up for my client (or show up as square boxes), such as the embedded search icon in the top menu bar and the social icons in the footer. I’m using WPEngine as my host and CDN is activated. I called WPEngine and they didn’t have a fix. I read through the forums but I’m still confused as to what the exact problem is. Can you help and point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hi Heidi,

I quickly visited your clients site and the icons were showing for me, is this now resolved?

Thanks,

Hi Danny,
Yes, they show up for me too. But they don’t show up at my client’s office - all computers on their MS exchange network. So their network is blocking something but I’m not sure why or what to tell the IT Manager to fix the internal problem.

Hi Heidi,

Is there anyway you can get them to take a screenshot using Google Chrome whilst the dev tools is open with the console enabled. So we can see if there are any errors.

Thanks,
Danny

Hey Heidi,

I’d just like to chime in here. Sometimes an adblocker messes with the FontAwesome script. Do you think your client has this enabled? If so, can you have them disable it real quick and see if that fixes it?

Ben

Thanks Ben. I just asked and the IT Manager says they do not have an ad blocker installed. I was hoping that was it. I will work on getting the screenshot next. Thanks!

I just had a thought. Is there somewhere in the code where the http://www can be added to the Font Awesome relative link? At my client’s office, web addresses without http://www do not load.

Thanks again for your help!

Hey Heidi,

All resources on your site is being loaded from your CDN, so all of them are without the www in place. I’ll post in a separate private reply a screenshot of how your FA assets are loaded. Should this be the case, you may want to disable CDN and see if that helps?

One more thing we can try is to have your client use a different browser. Or has that been tried already? Maybe have them reset the browser’s settings?

Other browsers have been tried. It must be the CDN! Thank you!

No worries! Let us know how it goes!

Ben

Ben, I just confirmed that CDN was indeed the problem. All icons are showing up on the client’s computers. Thanks again!

Awesome! Glad I could help! Enjoy BB!
