Thank you for the feedback. I will be sure to pass this onto the developer. However, if you embed a YouTube video it should already be responsive out-the-box. I have just this moment embedded a YouTube clip via the Video module using the embed option and when I reduce the browsers width or view on a mobile device, the video is responsive.
If you want a full-width video, why not add your video to the row module using the Background Type option > Video?
It’s definitely also an option but using the standard embed method as mentioned above the user can simultaneously utilize lazy-load (via third party plugin) on videos to improve webpage load time. I am not so sure that it will work when videos are implemented as ‘backgrounds’. Anyway, the auto-responsive solution I suggested above should be relatively easy to implement. So feel free to suggest it to developers.
Just wanted to chime in here. Like what Danny said, the video should already be responsive out of the box. Is this not the case for you? The player we’re using is also from YouTube, we’re simply embedding it via iframe.
Re the full width video, any video you embed using the Video module should be full width. Is this also not the case for you? You think you can share the URL to a page on your site where we can see this?
First, let me say the video you added your site is really interesting and well made. So great job there!
In regards to your issue, I thought the best course of action would be to embed your video on my test site, I used the following options:
Width = 560
Height = 315
Show suggested videos when the video finishes = Yes
Show player controls = Yes
Show video title and player actions = Yes
Enable privacy-enhanced mode = No
And I am not seeing any issue or delayed resizing. I recorded your this via an animated gif showing your video on my test site, before and after I refresh the page.
Therefore, I think the issue is likely caused by either one of the plugins you have installed or your theme. To locate the culprit, please do the following:
Disable all active plugins and see if the video still takes a few seconds to size correctly.
If it doesn’t then we can eliminate plugins as the cause and move onto your theme.
Enable a theme such as the BB theme or one of the WordPress core theme such as TwentySixteen and see if the issue persists.
If your video loads fine when all plugins are disabled, you will need to enable each plugin one at time and see if when that plugin is enabled, the video size acts strange again. If it doesn’t disable that plugin and move onto the next one. Repeat this process until you locate the plugin that is causing the issue.
