"Giving WP its own directory" appears to break Pagebuilder

Hi folks,
I have adjusted an existing site as per the instructions on and now I find I am unable to access the PageBuilder on any of my pages. While the rest of the site is working satisfactorily, when PageBuilder is clicked from the Page edit button it opens http://sitename.com/pagename/?fl_builder without displaying the PageBuilder header.

Can you help me out? Was there something else I should have done?

Kindest regards,
P.J.

Hi P.J.,

Would it be possible to get us access to the site to test this out? We work with the builder in a number of different directory setups so I’m not sure what the issue could be off the top of my head.

You might also try temporarily disabling other plugins to see if there might be a conflict.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,
Since you visited the site, it is working perfectly. However, I’m now doing another (almost identical) task and have exactly the same issue. Can you enlighten me as to what steps you took to resolve my previous issue? Thanks so much for your efforts!

Hi P.J.,

I actually didn’t do anything to fix the site  Can you send me login info for the new site so I can take a look?

Thanks,
Justin

big grin I have a sneaking suspicion I have it sorted. My original post seems to have deleted the link to the Wordpress codex help that I was using - it was codex. wordpress. com /Giving_Wordpress_Its_Own_Directory, but the instructions therein are (seemingly) incorrect.

It states that changes are needed to index.php (Using a pre-existing subdirectory install, point 5) but when these are done the site falls apart. Leaving the index.php untouched allows the site and PageBuilder work perfectly. This could be specific to my provider, my stupidity (!), or an error on the codex, but it works on both sites when done like this.

Either way, it’s all functional and thanks for your patience with this. Just one question: were you able to read the material I set as private above, or is there a better way to give you login info than publicly posting here?

Hi P.J.,

Good to hear! Yes, I am able to see the private posts. Let me know if you run into anything else.

Hi there, Im having the same issue. I follow the WordPress codex (/Giving_Wordpress_Its_Own_Directory) to go live with our site (www.green.mellow.travel). The site shows perfectly, but I cant access the PageBuilder on any of my pages.
The same as Raukan, when i click on the PageBuilder from the Page edit button it opens for Ex. http://www.green.mellow.travel/faqs-2/?fl_builder without displaying the PageBuilder header.
Can you help me out please? If you need access to our site please tell me.
Thanxs in advance, D

Hey Diego,

Sure thing. Can you send temporary admin access?

Thanks,
Justin

Hi there, I don`t know how, but the plugin is now working again.
So les’t hope it keeps running… ; )
Thanxs! D

Sounds good! Let me know if the issue comes up again.

I am also experiencing this issue… tried resetting permalinks and clearing BB cache but it didn’t work. I noticed that the admin tool bar was not showing on any pages either.

I switched browsers and everything worked fine, so I was able to make the changes that I needed.

Very weird.

For what it’s worth, the original browser was Chrome. We had the site in a sub-directory until it was ready to launch. Once it was approved, I changed the index and htaccess to point to that subdirectory to keep the WP install in the sub-directory. The issues with the page builder started after that change.

I switched to Safari and found it working as expected.

Hi Traci,

My apologies for missing this! It sounds a little weird that it’s working in one browser but not the other. Do you think that maybe it could be a caching issue? If you want, shoot over temporary login info and I can have a look.
