Greek text in Posts ie Our Blog Lorem ipsum

I am using BB for my posts. Not sure why or how, but the default of WP is adding in boilerplate Greek text like “Our Blog Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.” If I manually remove it, it adds it back in. I have turned off all plugins and Nomad411 tried to help me over in the Slack site (even after logging in).
It seems to happen when I go into BB and upload a post template called ReviewsinPosts. If I do not use a template, it doesn’t add the Greek text in. So I guess I have it isolated and a work around, but would like to be able to use templates for different types of posts.
Any ideas? thanks

Hey Lynn,

Welcome to BB forums! Could you please share temp admin access to your site so we can take a better look? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

Thanks!

Oh also is there a way to not display (or style) the title in the first part of the blog. It duplicates what WP already adds.

Hey Lynn,

I’m getting this “You are temporarily locked out” error when I tried to login. Could you probably disable it for us to go through?

Thanks!

KC

Hey Lynn,

I just went in to the site, created a test page, BB Test Page, uploaded the Review In Posts template, but I don’t get the lorem ipsum text? Am I missing something? You can check the page, it’s in Draft status.

Ben

Hi Ben, yes it’s in the post type not pages. You can see it on this page, but only on the WP side. It shows fine on the BB side, but when you view it toward the bottom of the home page (Guest Reviews) it shows up there for that post. I’ve managed to fix the other ones by going into the Wordpress post editor and deleting that text. If I go back into BB on that post it will reinsert the Greek Text. Pretty weird.
Thanks Lynn

I see the problem now. That is actually because it is part of your Template. You just can’t see it since you have this negative top margin applied to your content area, pushing it upwards.

If you remove that styling and open up the Review In Posts template, you’ll see the Our Blog part on the top row.

Ben

That makes sense. Mystery solved. Thank you.

Can you tell me why I have to add the negative top margin to each page/post? Is that something I messed up too? It doesn’t seem right, but it’s been that way since I started. Maybe it has something to do with the image behind the post I am using? I started with the Scroller template and changed Parallax to Photo. As I’m new to BB that was my best MacGiver move, but I think it is causing big noobie problems.

Thanks Lynn

Hey Lynn,

That negative top margin is a part of your custom styling. I don’t really know why you did that to be honest. Is there a specific layout you wanted to achieve?

You don’t need to add a negative top margin on your page content for the BB theme to work.

Ben

I want the header to be transparent on all/most pages. I worked with someone who helped me style it that way but now I think it might not have been the right fix. If I take the negative top margin out of the custom styling, I think it will break the transparent look of the header. Is there a fix for this? I’m happy to do it, I’m just not sure how to proceed.
Would it be to remove the custom negative styling and then remove from each header where I’ve added it in? But I think the site will lose it’s transparency in the headers.

Loving BB by the way. Just need to get through some of these issues.

Hey Lynn,

Check the KB article below and see if it’s what you’re looking for.

Ben

Well, that helped a bit. I am still having to add a row with about 130px at the top of each page so the content doesn’t go under the header.
As I wasn’t sure if I had it in a template, I used the blank template and it happened there too. I wouldn’t worry about it, but when I pull up a on a cell phone it is showing as a big black box.
Any ideas on how to find if something became broken or if there is extra code messing it up when my former programmer coded it? It’s a bit too late to start from scratch.

Hi Ben, Now I realized that the title for the post type is also tucked up under and I cannot seem to add a row above it or adjust it in anyway. I was adding it back in thinking that BB gave me a clean slate to design on. Now I see it’s there probably by default, but I don’t know how to pull it down.

Hey Lynn,

Sorry, but I’m still seeing the -435px top margin applied to the .fl-page-content class? That’s a bit too much I think. You’ll only need to apply a negative margin equal to the height of your header, like what the KB above says.

Ben

I still see only -205 applied. I checked my style.css and customizer and then inspected the .fl-page-content element using Chrome inspector. It all shows the same. Here is a link to a screenshot of what I’m seeing. .fl-page-content What am I missing?

Hey Lynn,

I’m sorry, what seems to be the problem? Those are your custom styles, they have nothing to do with BB. Are you trying to reduce the margin or increase it? You can do so by editing them under your stylesheet. Just wondering, were you the one who developed the site from scratch?

If this is confusing you I’d suggest removing all those custom styles you have for your transparent header and just follow the KB article I posted above.

Ben
