How to edit facebook meta data?

Hi,

I want to share my website on facebook (http://www.omyoga.co/).
I’ve set the facebook title, description and image using yoast seo, but when pasting the url into facebook, it still shows some other data. Could it be that Beaver Builder is overriding some of that data that is fed into facebook? If so where could I edit it?

Thanks,
Fabian

Hey Fabian,

BB doesn’t add any facebook metadata to your site. What info did you place for each and where did you place it? Can you check the thread below and see if it’s the same issue?

Hi Ben,

I used the same method as explained in that thread to enter my info (see here). But the result is something completely different, see here. It basically just takes the first title and text on the page, but not what I entered via yoast seo. Do you have any idea how that’s possible?

Thank you,
Fabian

Hey Fabian,

I can’t seem to see the screenshots. Can you double check? Maybe try uploading it to imgur instead.

Not really sure what’s happening there. Like what Justin said on the thread above, BB doesn’t handle those kind of stuff. I am seeing the OG stuff added to your site though. Can you check the screenshot below and see if those are what you’ve set?

Hmm that’s weird, the screenshot links work for me. Yes that’s the title and description I fixed, but it’s not appearing on Facebook that way. Any idea why that could be the case?
Thanks a lot.

Sorry, not really an expert on that regard. I do know that Facebook uses those OG stuff you have on your site. Maybe it has something to do with your theme? Could you try switching it to a different one and see if it makes a difference? Or disable all other plugins except Yoast SEO and check?

Ok I got somebody from Studiopress to point it out to me! In case somebody is looking for the same thing, here the solution:

"Facebook is caching the data it scrapes from your website for quite some time.
Facebook is not looking if you made changes to your website and will only check your page again when the cache is expiring.

To manually update the Facebook cache, you can use the Facebook developer tool here https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

Type in your URL and click debug
After the page has reloaded, click on Fetch new scrape information."

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this, Fabian! Never had a slightest clue that was the case.

Enjoy BB!
