I can't change the page URL to the right one, WP always adds "-2"

I can’t change the page URL to the right one, WP always adds “-2” to the name I would like to give.

I don’t have any other page or post with similar name, I have deleted all drafts and trash and deleted items. What else I can do to change it to the same like the page name (without the end “-2”)

Hey Pärt,

The only reason I know of that causes that is if you have another page/post with the same title. I don’t really know what’s going on there to be honest. I’m just gonna leave this one out for the community as someone might have experienced this.

Thanks for your answers, I tried everything, still nothing happens. On pages page I emptied trash, everything is deleted permanently or already published. I do have 5 pages alltogether and all of them are published. Everyone of them has separate name. But still I do have this “-2” that cannot be changed :confused:

Do you happen to have a tag or category named the same as the page?

I’m guessing that you cannot see the page with the same url (slug) because it may have a status of draft, or it maybe in the trash.
There are selection links at the top of the list of pages, try browsing through them and see if that reveals the one you want.
If it is in trash, there is an option to delete permanently, which will then allow a new one to be created with that name.

Solution: don’t upload media(photos) with the same name before making a page. I had few photos that had the same name like the page.
