IMPORT/EXPORT

The plugin BUG FIX that you listed (http://forum.wpbeaverbuilder.com/downloads/wordpress-importer-patched.zip) in this forum post:http://forum.wpbeaverbuilder.com/support/q/save-template-not-working/ works great for importing/exporting themes… but the one we were using perfectly for years called the “ALL-IN-ONE WP MIGRATION” plugin is no longer working with the new BeaverBuilder. Can you please contact them and work on getting this fixed up? Its makes a HUGE difference to us here to be able to ALL-EXPORT and ALL-IMPORT our websites to a new server.

Thanks,

Hey David,

If you are migrating sites, there is one vital step that has to be done with Beaver Builder. Have a look at this thread. The importance of that article is the serialized search and replace. I haven’t tried migrating a site with the tool you mention, but if it isn’t working for some reason, I would probably suggest contacting the plugin devs directly there. Another option that works pretty well is the Better Search and Replace plugin.

If I’m not understanding the issue, can you elaborate on what is and isn’t working when using the plugin you mention?

Best,
Billy

Hey Billy - all had been working fine with All in One until the latest update of Beaver Builder. It seems that there are a couple things happening.

  1. Random page templates are brought over correctly in the migration (header is always good. Footer always good)

  2. Sometimes the content is brought over, but just in 1 text box for the page

  3. On build site, we export templates using export/import tool and then try to import and nothing happens. This was until we started using the patched version HOWEVER… it was working fine before the latest update to BB.

I’m no rocket scientist, but I would say there is a bug somewhere with the code that is throwing off the export import from any plugin. Something just isn’t being read correctly in the migration of that information.

Give all-in-one wp migration a try. Absolute simplest way to migrate a WP site. Except it isn’t now, and that sucks!

Thanks David, so I suppose the issue is really with #1 and #2 then, correct? Yep, we’ll take a deeper look locally and see what we come up with. Back soon!

Hey Billy… just touching base on this one. We have been using the plugin fix, but would love to skip that step in the process.

Thanks.

Hey David,

Unfortunately not, but I believe some core work has been started on the native import/export plugin. Our patch is just that based on the core version. Until they implement their new version, everyone’s hands are tied. I haven’t had a chance to try your migration plugin, but is that working as it should?

Best,
Billy

Sorry to bump an old post but I hope this is helpful. I also use All-in-One WP Migration to transfer sites from localhost to staging server then staging to live. Depending on versions, I sometimes have issues with page templates not exporting / importing properly resulting in corrupt layouts or pages not showing at all.

I’ve found the best solution to resolve these problems is to take the exported AIO WP Migration file and upload it via FTP to the ‘ai1wm-backups’ folder under the ‘wp-content’ directory and restore via All-in-One’s backup option rather than Import. Reset permalinks, clear the BB cache and all should be good.

Andy

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for sharing, we appreciate it.

Thanks,
Danny

Just to add to this topic, I’m hosted on Flywheel and had this problem today when moving from staging to live. When I go to the live site all of the module templates that I’ve edited and saved don’t show up, only the default formatted modules. I used the patched version of the export/import plugin to make sure everything got moved, but I still have to go to every page and open the Page Builder and then click Publish again in order for the global template modules to show up correctly. My site isn’t too big, so it’s not a huge problem right now, but just thought you’d want to know the problem affects Flywheel staging sites.

Hey Fran,

Do you mind sharing your migration process? Does Flywheel offer a one click migration from staging to live? Or are you using a plugin?

Ben

Hey Ben, I’m happy to be able to help you for a change!
Yes, they offer one-click migration from staging to live, and vice-versa. They’re awesome, you should give them a try.

Hey Fran,

That may be the cause of the issue. Their migration process might not handle serialized data. Can you get in touch with them and ask if that’s the case?

Ben

I sure will, Ben. They have awesome support, so I’m sure I’ll hear back from them soon and I’ll let you know.
