Jump Links (aka anchors) on same page with fixed header enabled

Hello,

I’m trying to insert jump links (anchors) on a long page of my site. The jump links work fine, however, since I have enabled a fixed header, the header covers up the top portion of the content I am jumping to from the link. I tried setting the anchor higher up on the page, but that creates additional issues such as when viewing on mobile devices. Likewise, I have an image inserted in the center of the page, below which is a heading I need to link to so I can’t move that anchor higher up without it being above the image and therefore too high above the content I am jumping to. Is there a workaround for this?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Kelly

Hey Kelly,

Thank you for getting in touch! Would it be possible for you to give us the site URL as well as grant us temporary admin access to the site so we can check?

Ben

[Content Hidden]

Hi Kelly,

I just checked your site and for some reason the smooth scroll function is not working. That function includes the offset from the header so it kinda pushes the content down a bit when it travels to the designated part of the page. I can see you have a caching plugin installed so I would suggest turning that off and see if you get the same problem.

Ben

Hi Ben,

I just deactivated the caching plugin, but that did not resolve the problem. Any other thoughts?

Kelly

Hey Kelly,

This is most likely a plugin conflict since the smooth scroll still isn’t working. I would suggest deactivating all plugins except for BB and see if you get the same problem. If the problem goes away, try reactivating the plugins one by one to see which plugin is causing the issue. I suggested just the caching plugin earlier since that is the most probable cause.

Hope this helps.

Ben

Hi Ben,

I’ve deactivated all plugins except BB and I’m still experiencing the same problem :frowning:

Hey Kelly,

I just took a look at this as well and I think I see the problem. Have a look at this KB article we have on our smooth scrolling functionality. You’ll want to go that route as opposed to manually adding anchors in your HTML. Let us know how that goes!

Best,
Billy

Billy,

Perfect! That did the trick. Thanks to both you and Ben for all your help!!

Many thanks,
Kelly

Awesome, great to hear!
