Page builder not working on my site

Hi Team,

This site here: http://eatapp.net.au

The page builder isn’t opening. See here: http://cl.ly/1s0J0S2m2V1X

It just stalls at this stage. Any ideas why this could be happening?

Cheers Fenwick

Hi Fenwick,

I can see that you have built your site using Beaver Builder. Therefore, has this issue only recently starting happening? If so, what changes have you made to your site recently?

Have you installed or updated any plugins?
Have you added any custom code?
When did you rename the wp-content folder?

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Danny - thanks for your reply.

To answer your questions…

Have you installed or updated any plugins? We have update all plugins and wordpress but after that site working fine.
Have you added any custom code? No nothing
When did you rename the wp-content folder? We renamed it from go live and the folder is virtual so no effect in any coding

What course of action do we need to take to get this up and running again - I have urgent updates I need to do on the site.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Fenwick

Hi Fenwick,

When did the issue start to happen?
Have you tried disabling all active plugins except for Beaver Builder?

It may be difficult to diagnose your issue, as you have renamed the bb-plugin directory, which shouldn’t cause any issues in itself, but will prevent you from receiving updates.

You also have renamed your wp-content folder. Whenever I have tried with this in the past, I have always encountered issues with certain plugins and themes. So this may well be the cause.

If you can provide temp admin access, as well as giving us permission to disable plugins if required. We can take a closer look.

Thanks,
Danny

Hey Fenwick,

What’s the URL of the login page? I’ve tried both /wp-admin and /wp-login.php but it goes to a 404. I’ve checked our hello email but nothing there as well. Can you check?

Hey Fenwick,

Sorry, does the first issue you posted above still stand? Are these on the same sites as I noticed the site on the video is a different one?

On the new issues you’re facing, when did this started happening? Do you have any caching plugins installed, or does your hosting offer server sided caching? Are these sites from a local install then migrated to a staging/live URL? If so, what process did you follow when migrating? What site security methods have you implemented? If you undo these security methods, does it fix the problem?

Sound like a plan! I did try resetting the password but never received the email for doing so. Can you go ahead and create the account and post the details here via private reply?

Hey Fenwick,

Sorry, but what username is that password tied to? I tried using hello [at] wpbeaverbuilder [dot] com but it doesn’t work. I tried several others, ben, beaverbuilder, bb, and such but to no avail. Can you check?

Hi Ben,

Thank you so much for identifying this for us. I really appreciate it.

We had a major hack recently on two of our sites. We need to provide secure wordpress sites to our clients. I’m wondering, other than updating our plugins and wordpress versions when they come up, what do you recommend to use for enhanced security that also works seamlessly with BB?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Fenwick

Hi Fenwick,

I have no experience with any security plugins. However, one of the best investments you can do is purchasing hosting from a respected host who specialise in hosting WordPress sites. We recommend either FlyWheel, WP-Engine or Page.ly.

https://wpengine.com/

I personally use FlyWheel and have great security with malware monitoring and allow you to ship your project to your client with a click of a button. You should check them out.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Folks, hope you don’t mind me offering some options…

I install WordFence and BulletProof Security on all my sites.

WordFence has excellent monitoring and scanning facilities &
Bulletproof has a simple wizard that updates the .htaccess files to tighten folder access.
Hope this is of some use…

Thanks Danny and Dave.

Dave - are these plugins compatible with BB? And do you use a VPS server to host your sites? If so, do you ever run into challenges with being hacked?

I was also looking at ‘All In One WordPress Security and Firewall’ as an option.

Other option is to migrate sites to a wordpress optimised hosting solution.

Either way, I want secure sites for my clients.

Hi Fenwick,

In regards to VPS hosting, in the past, I’ve only ever used Digital Ocean or Linode and never ran into any issues.

Also, sorry to hear about your hack. Were you able to identify how you were hacked? Was it related an out of date plugin/theme or how the server was configured?

Thanks,
Danny
