Posting page URL's to Facebook

Hey guys

In the past whenever I’ve posted a page URL to Facebook a small box appears with the page description and my logo to the side of it. However now my logo seems to be missing and I just get the box with the page description. I haven’t changed much on my site recently so I can’t think what’s caused the logo to disappear. Any ideas?

Hey Ian,

The image that appears there is the og:image meta tag that you’ve assigned to your site. The BB theme nor plugin does not have a way to do that, nor does it mess with those tags.

I know the plugin Yoast SEO allows you to add one per page. You might want to give it a shot. :slight_smile:

Strange how it was working and isn’t now. The only thing I can think of is I changed from W3 Total Cache to the Zen Cache plugin, so maybe it has something to do with that.

I have Yoast SEO and just found the option so thanks, I’ll give that a try now.

No worries at all, Ian! Did you get to check the markup of the page in question if it indeed have that meta tag in place?

I’m not sure how to check the markup/meta tag of the page. Do you know how I can do this?

I also tried uploading an image to the Facebook tab of Yoast SEO/Social, but the image still isn’t showing. Do you know if something is stopping it? I did have a look at Yoast support but couldn’t find any answers and it seems they only respond to users with a paid Yoast account, not the free version I have.

Hi Ian,

You can check your pages markup by right-clicking on your page and select “View Page Source”. From here you should be able to locate a number of tags with og:.

You can also use the Facebook debugger to check for any errors - https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
