Posts Carousel not using correct image size

In Posts Carousel Settings, under layout, I have the featured image size set to medium (300px), but it is using full size images and loading 1600 pixels wide images into the carousel. This is affecting my page load speed. Do you know why this might be happening?

I can’t control the size of images that the client uploads. I use Imsanity and an image optimizer, which helps, but, if these carousel images can load the medium size, as I expected, it would be a great help.

Thank you!

Hey Kathleen,

Did you just change the settings for your medium image size under Settings > Media? If so, you may need to regenerate your thumbnails using the plugin below.

If that is not the case, feel free to share the URL of the site where this is happening along with temp admin access via private reply so we can check.

Ben

Yes, I did need to regenerate the thumbnail for that one, but now I have a different problem. I have medium images set to 300 x 300. This particular image is resized to 300 x 167. However, the image in the bb-plugin cache has been cropped to 238 x 167!! Then on the page it is stretched to 331 x 232 and looks horrible. On smaller screens when the carousel goes to one slide at a time it is stretched to 365 pixels wide and looks even worse.

I reset the medium size to 331 x 331, since that is the size of the column at full width, but the regenerated image in the bb-plugin cache was resized down to 263 x 184, slightly better, but still unacceptable. I understand that the images are being resized by BB to maintain a consistent height, but there is no way to turn it off, when it doesn’t look good. What can I do about this?

Thank you!

Hi Kathleen,

Would it be possible for you to provide temp admin access to your site and also provide a link to the page in question, please. So we can take a closer look.

Thanks,
Danny
