Hi,
Need some help with BB Templates. I am using Genesis and DWB as child theme. Every time I use one of the templates available in BB, the styles of that template get overwritten with DWB styles. How I retain BB template’s styles so that I can just change the images and text and publish the page?
Are you referring to the layout templates that come with the plugin? If so, DWB didn’t overwrite the BB styles. All of those elements should be controlled by the theme and that is what’s happening, i.e., it is working as intended. The only module we have that can where you can overwrite those properties is our Heading module.
You can see all the styles (fonts, button colors etc.) have gone missing. I had just selected the Essence template and published it. Did not tinker with anything but still this page is not exactly how BB’s demo page is.
The demo on our site is using the BB theme, and most of the elements’ properties there are being controlled by it like the font family, font size, font color, and etc, as that is what themes are for. For the buttons, you can control the color under the Style tab.
In that case the whole value proposition of using a template gets lost. I now have to hack around CSS to get my page looking exactly the same as in the template. I was expecting something like, apply template, change text and images and you are done. I can understand this logic of using theme’s font for modules but not for templates. Templates are supposed to be ready-to-use. Currently its just extra work to be done
Sorry to hear about the confusion here. Ben is correct in that BB content inherits the styles you mention from the theme in place. Page templates are just that, BB content, so there is no way for them to have their own styling independent of what it picks up from your theme. In all honesty, I don’t really think they should either for consistency reasons. Anyway, apologies for any inconvenience there. We do now have a per page CSS option in the event you would like to style a specific page differently than others. It is available via the tools button > layout settings.
Hi Billy,
Thanks for explaining. I understand now how this works. I have submitted a suggestion at user-voice to include presets for layouts and modules. Something similar to how presets are available for the Beaver Builder theme. Would be nice to have such a feature
