Slider/Slideshow problem - pics appear as separate, not slideshow

Hi, I’m using BB with a Theme Forest theme called Striking that allows me to set a homepage. I set up a test home page using BB which worked fine, but then when I was ready to go live with it and selected it as my homepage using Striking, my pics and other elements on the page (e.g. quotes) ended up showing individually from top to bottom.

See here: http://www.babachanian.com

Please help.

Sark

Following up, note that when the page is not selected as the homepage, it appears correctly:

http://babachanian.com/home-2/

This is driving me nuts. Any chance on feedback soon? Would be much appreciated.

Sark

Looks like my follow up URL didn’t show up. Here it is:

http://babachanian.com/home-2/

Sark

I don’t know why, but I am posting another URL and though the rest of the message shows, the URL does not. To see my homepage as it should look, please add the following to my babachanian.com URL: /home-2

Will you PLEASE reply soon?

That’s because, with due respect, you took so long to respond I did not want the embarrassment of having my site looking terrible for an extended period and changed it back to how it was. I will leave it in its ugly state for a few hours this evening, until about 7pm.

Hi Sarkis,

I apologise for the delay, there have been a higher volume of posts today than normal. So it took me longer than expected to get your topic. So I am really sorry about that.

In regards to your issue, is your homepage now displaying the issue? As I have looked at you page source and I am still not seeing any Beaver Builder modules in use?

I am seeing the following on your homepage.

Cloudup

However, the markup for those images is just HTML, there is no Beaver Builder module code on that page?

Therefore, can you provide temp admin access, so we can take a closer look, please.

Thanks,
Danny

Hey Sarkis,

I tried logging in to your site but I can’t seem to get in. Can you check?

Hey Sarkis,

The problem here is that your theme isn’t loading the the_content function inside a loop. This can be found on your theme’s front-page.php file. You can create a child theme so we can override that. Or get in touch with the theme author and see if they can change it in a future update.

If I abandon my striking theme and use yours (which I purchased already) I am afraid I’ll lose all my menus and multi-column footers with a subfooter. Do you have a tutorial on making footers and menus?

Hi Sarkis,

Your WordPress menu will remain in-tact. However, when you enable a new theme, they will not be enabled. The reason for this is that WordPress only stores menus on a theme by theme basis, because all themes have different menu locations.

So if you were to enable the BB theme, all you will need to do is go to either your WordPress Admin Dashboard > Appearance > Menus and then add your menu to the theme location.

Alternatively, you can select your menu to a location using the Customizer. Once the Customizer is loaded, navigate to Menus > Menu Locations.

For your footer, the BB theme has options for setting up your footer via the Customizer. To do this load up the Customizer and navigate to Footer and configure it using the footer options.

You can also add widgets using the Footer column widget areas via WordPress Admin Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets.

Note I would advise performing a backup, just as a precaution before switching to the BB theme.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Sarkis,

What is not working out for you in regards to the theme? As we may be able to assist you. As the BB theme is rather powerful.

Unfortunately, phone support isn’t a service we provide.

Thanks,
Danny

At this preliminary point, a few reasons about the Beaver Builder Theme (BBT) kinda bother me:

  1. The title area for “Babachanian | Legal Counsel” at the top of each page offers text that is too small (despite my efforts to modify without causing it to go to another line). See the way my site (http://www.babachanian.com) currently is (using the feature rich Striking theme) to see how I would prefer it. I would also want to set the color of that text (which probably can be done but I haven’t looked to figure it out.

  2. BBT has a link to “home” way up top and I can’t seem to get rid of it.

  3. BBT doesn’t seem to have the footer features I need. I like the way my footer is now - for instance, I like a 3 column footer, black background and widgets in the footer (as well as Widget capability throughout). I couldn’t seem to get it to do that.

  4. BBT has “Powered by BeaverBuilder” in the sub-footer which I don’t want.

  5. I like the way my menus look and perform now including style, color, background color for when I pull down the menu and mouseover items, things like that.

The Striking theme really is powerful, but the BBT seems clean. If it had those features, I would reconsider. Thoughts?

Hi Sarkis,

  1. As far as I can tell from the site using the Striking theme. It appears to it allows you to add HTML inside the the Site Description area of WordPress. I have never known any theme to do this. You could possibly try doing this using the BB theme and the options via the Customizer.

However, we only provide one text input under Customizer > Header > Header Logo, On the option called Type select Text instead of Logo.

A) You may be able to get this to work, by copying and pasting the HTML that wraps your Site Title and Site Description into the Logo Text option.

B) Then copy the CSS and add this to the Customizer > Code > CSS Code.

Also, I would advise against using the Striking theme, as I am unable to locate it on the WordPress theme repository and the authors domain no longer appears to be active.

Upon inspecting your site, I also noticed that you appear to have some HTML which I believe you did not add yourself. If you inspect the Site Title/Description HTML on your site, you will find the following:

Cloudup

  1. Can you provide a screenshot of what you’re referring to, please?

  2. The BB theme has widget capability in the Footer. Load up the Customizer and make sure the area is enabled. Customizing > Footer > Footer Widgets Layout and make sure the option is set to all pages.

Then go to WordPress Admin Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets and add your Widgets to the Footer Column Sidebars.

  1. Go to Customizing > Footer > Footer Layout and remove the copyright text or replace it with your own.

  2. I am not sure if this is a question or not? Can you provide more information if you’re having issues with the Menu on the BB theme.

Thanks,
Danny
