Struggling with row height

HI,
I am using the BB Theme and beta plugin to create a new site as well as understanding BB.

On the first page, I started out with the modern template, with a row that contains a background slide show, with on top of that a header row and a button. The result is an image that is partially hidden behind the header and the body. All is fine.

On my other pages, I would like to also have a row with an image, but not necessarily a slideshow. But a slideshow of 1 will also work for me. However, when I don’t add the header row and button, the height is different. Instead of a slideshow, I tried to add an image as background of the row, but this makes the row even smaller.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Pieter

Hey Pieter,

Just took a look at your Website and it seems you’re doing it incorrectly. I’ve duplicated a page for your reference(Link Below). You’ll just need a single column and adjust the row paddings of the background image. I’ve also attached a screenshot for your reference. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks KC, the padding does the trick!

I also have a question on the image size. The theme center space is 1100px. When I specify that the image should be full size (1050 width) the image disappears. I also tried with an 1100px image. Developer mode in Chrome says there is a 500 (URL Rewrite Module Error). It only works when the Image size drop down is set to something smaller than full size.

What is the best practice for full width images? I assume I should place different rows with different images for different screen sizes, filling in the Responsive Layout field to satisfy Google Pagespeed. But how much smaller than the actual width should the images be? If there are best practices I can try to avoid trial and error

Thanks a lot for your help KC.

Pieter

PS, I only get here with things that I don’t understand. But I have found the theme and plugin the best since I started with WP. I am really glad with it, for the first time I can customize WP to do what I want without a hassle.

Hey Pieter,

I’ve just tested the row background image and I’m able to display/select different image sizes without issues. Besides placing different rows with different images for different screen sizes, you should first consider optimizing your images to improve your Website in terms of speed. Read through the article below for more guidelines. Let us know how it goes and if it helps.

Thanks KC, I will do that. The problem with the background image full size has gone away, not sure what did it, but it is resolved now.

Pieter

Hey Pieter,

Glad that you got everything sorted out. Enjoy BB and let us know if you need anything further.

Thanks!

Hi KC,
I replaced another theme on a site, and experience the same issue. When you add a new picture and do not change the default size from full size to large, the picture shows as a not found picture. These pictures are larger than the width of the theme box, maybe that is part of the problem.

Any more ideas?

Pieter

Hey Pieter,

Just checked your Website and it seems everything is working fine. I’ve created a test page for our reference http://www.petitbarzun.nl:8080/bb-test-page/ . Could you please check on your end? If the issue still persists, could you replicate the issue on the test page I created?

Thanks!

KC

Hi KC, sorry if I was not clear. The row height problem was solved earlier, but the open problem is about the size of the images below. I have placed a new post on the forum about that separate issue here: http://forum.wpbeaverbuilder.com/support/q/bug-images-not-showing-on-safari/

It is on a different site, can you have a look there?

Thanks

Pieter

Hey Pieter,

Looks like my colleague has attended that thread, I’ll leave this thread as resolved for now. Let us know if you need anything further.

Thanks!
