I used the html module to add a mailchimp widget I generated inside my client’s ,ail chip account and after I saved the page it started returning a bunch of JS errors on the inspector console, wanted to go back to delete the widget and when I launched the builder, nothing was responding, I click everywhere and nothing works, can’t go back in page revisions and can’t edit the page, how do I remove the bad module? Please advise as this is a landing page for a newsletter that is supposed to go out today.
These are all the errors that the widget is causing (go to link) https://www.dropbox.com/s/gv0k9ojmk70p9mv/errors.png?dl=0 it’s completing breaking BB when trying to edit the page … nothing I click on works … its only on the page I added this
Sorry to hear about the issues. Have you tried going to that particular page in the dashboard via pages and then switching between the text editor and perhaps removing the content in the actual editor as opposed to the page builder?
I thought that changes made that way wouldn’t affect the content made using the builder … I just tried doing that and only plain text shows there , I don’t see the html module there … is there any way to remove it via ftp? having to redo the whole thing would kill me
Unfortunately, that isn’t possible. From the page editor dashboard, can you access a previous revision to where that particular module wasn’t present? Or, if you made it a template before inserting the bad code, you could create a new page and apply the template again.
I didn’t make any template since it was only one single page design (its just a landing page), and I don’t know why I don’t get the page revision option … that would solve it easily. Any idea why is the revision option missing ? I have wordpress 4.3.1
In the page editor screen, hit the screen options tab in the top right hand corner. You should see an option to check revisions. Do that and that should show your revision history right under the editor.
I don’t see “revisions” under screen options, its like globally disabled even though its a brand new wprdpress installation with only a few plugins installed.
Ok, I think I have a workaround for you. I don’t think BB is installed in this site, but rather network admin as I don’t see the page builder settings panel. What you can do is go into the page builder settings, disable the html module temporarily, then go over to the site and delete the row that contains the bad HTML. From there, go ahead and reactivate the HTML module and you should be good to go to continue building again. Let us know how that goes and apologies for the delay!
wow that seemed like a great idea but unfortunately it did not work I disabled the html module and when I went to edit the page it behaved exactly the same. Seems like I am up against the wall, the only option I have i find out why I m not getting the Page Revision option.
Bummer, but that means that perhaps the bad code is elsewhere on that page? You can do the same process for whichever module appears to be affecting the page. If that still doesn’t work, can you provide us network admin access?
Is there any way to activate BB on that page? even if I can’t remove the element for now. Please let me know as I need that page with the design active.
For issues like these, the only way around it that I know of is via the Revisions system or deleting the piece of content causing the error via DB. I wouldn’t recommend the latter as it’s kinda hard and it has a chance of ruining your entire site.
This issue has been fixed now … I had to do a full restore but exported the changes I had made after the backup point, then imported them after restore was complete. Thank you for pointing the page revision issue, its now ON, and appreciate your help !!!
