Using Beaver Builder To Change Parallax Pro Homepage Sections

Hello,

I am using Genesis but I’ve noticed that I can’t access the homepage sections with BB page builder to alter the text colors in the section or create a semi transparent overlay so the text shows up much better. As of now the text is white and doesn’t show up very well.

catholicalpha.com is the site.

If BB isn’t able to access this page. Is there a way I can create a semi transparent background behind the text so it shows up better.

Thanks

Jerry

Hey Jerry,

Sorry to hear about the problem. Could you elaborate a bit though? Are you having issues accessing only the homepage or all the pages with BB? Do you think you can share temp admin access to your site so we can take a better look? You can post the details here using the private reply option below.

Thanks!

KC

Hi Jerry,

Are you creating pages with Beaver Builder and then using the Genesis Featured Page widget for the Parallax Pro widget areas (Home Section 1, Home Section 2 & Home Section 3)? Also, which if any BB templates are you using for these pages?

Mike

Hello KC and Mike,

Wow, I feel special, I got two replies from the kings of page builders!!

  1. No, NO, Kc I have access to all of my pages with the page builder. I just can’t seem to be able to load the homepage or be able to access it with page builder. Maybe I am not doing something right. It seems in Parallax Pro the home page is accessed different from the other pages, say about page or post pages. All I have to do is go to all pages and there is a page builder tab under each of the pages to access it.

But with the home page it doesn’t load like the other pages. I have to hit customize or go to widgets to access it and in those areas there is no page builder tab button for access. You see what I mean?

I can give you access if you want. I think it is just me. I don’t know how to do much in wordpress. I am just a blogger not a tech person.

  1. Mike I am not sure exactly what you mean, but I will try and explain what I am doing. Basically, I am using no templates. I am using blank post pages to create my posts.

  2. I have not tried creating any pages with page builder as of yet, because I am inputting content on my site that was previously created in an email course. An these are not page content but blog post type content. My blog is brand new, so transferring and making content look fabulous is a top priority.

But the first priority is getting the homepage to say and look how I need it to before drawing readers to my site. This is why I bought BB and am trying to get the text on the homepage more readable.

  1. I only have 3 pages right now, about (not yet transferred to page builder just used wordpress text editor to input content on page) Contact page and home page.

  2. So again to my problem here catholicalpha.com

I just really want to know if there is a way to edit the home page and home sections using page builder. So that I can change the colors but mainly to place a semi-transparent background behind the text so it shows up on the image better. Just like I can on the post pages I am creating.

  1. Also, I have not tried to create the homepage in beaver builder. I just was trying to access it through beaver builder just as if I was going to access my “about” page. You see?

  2. As stated above I can give you access if needed.

Thank you both for your help,

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Sorry for the confusion. I’m just a BB user, not a support person. I have used Genesis for a long time however so I felt like I could assist. You are correct in regards to Parallax Pro, the homepage is set up distinctly different. The good news is that if you have purchased it, you should have access to the complete setup at http://my.studiopress.com/setup/parallax-theme/ It will take you through step by step and make sense of my first response. On my test site I’m using Parallax Pro with two Beaver Builder pages being pulled into The Home Section 1 and Home Section 2 widget areas respectively. Here is the test: http://betatests.org/parallaxpro/

Below is a screen capture the admin dashboard. Appearance > Widgets > Home Section 1 (contains the Genesis Featured Page widget)

http://betatests.org/parallaxpro/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2015/12/capture.jpg

Sorry, but I didn’t personally buy the theme. My tech person has a Studiopress subscription and she set up my site. So again, my question, is can the front page (home page) of Parallax Pro be edited by the BB page builder?

If not I was looking into buying Genesis Design Palette Pro. Is this plugin compatible with Beaver Builder.

Thanks
Jerry

The Parallax Pro theme homepage cannot be edited by Beaver Builder in the manner you describe since it uses 5 distinct widget areas and is not one page. One option would be to create a page, edit it with Beaver Builder, and then set that page as your homepage by going from the admin dashboard > Settings > Reading and setting the front page to display it as the homepage. The only problem is that this would eliminate that cool parallax effect you currently have on your homepage. To view how that looks check my test site once more at: http://betatests.org/parallaxpro/ The other option would be to use a combination of the two by creating Beaver Builder pages and then placing the Genesis Featured Page widgets into the Home Section 1, 2, etc. widget areas. I apologize if this sounds confusing. Best - M

Jerry,

Let me know if you would like the configuration instructions (pdf) for that theme and I’ll send you a message using your contact form on catholicalpha.com.

Best,

Mike

Hey Mike,

We really appreciate your responses given we’re not any good when it comes to Genesis.

Jerry,

Same thing I noticed when I checked your site. The homepage is pulling in widgets. Check Mike’s reply above regarding how to make a single page your homepage. One thing I would like to add though is you should be able to create those Parallax effects with the BB builder.

Ben

No worries Ben! I hope I’m helping. I really enjoy working with Genesis & Beaver Builder. A killer combination. Without going into a ton of detail, you can create pages that can be pulled into the parallax homepage. Say I create a page called “page 1” using Beaver Builder. I can then drag a widget called Genesis Featured Page to the widget area “Home Section 1” and this section will display a snippet of page 1 and is linked to it as well. Same goes for page 2. I create a page called “page 2” and then drag another Genesis Featured page widget to the “Home Section 2” widget area and display a snippet of page 2 in that section and so on. Jerry, let me know if you need the config file. It helps a lot in understanding how the Parallax Pro theme is configured.
